I will present examples, from Xaad Kil and Secwepemctsin, of how we can engage not only the precious spoken and written words from our elders, but also archived knowledge and treasures from past ancestors stored away in museums away from our homelands. In particular, as we make sense and reconstruct stories for the benefit of the next generation of language keepers and speakers, the cumulative ways in which we can deploy those knowledges in new forms – sometimes through digital technologies – will attract and retain present and future generations of learners.
